| BELDEM is a subsidiary of the PURATOS Group and
was founded in 1975 to supply the high quality emulsifiers
produced within the group since 1955 to the entire
food industry. |

More recently, strategic developments in
the field of ingredients led, in 1994, to the creation
of a manufacturing facility for enzymes and sourdoughs. |

A new step forward into the development of high value
biotechnological products was made at the end of 1999
with the building of a brand new yeast plant called Gelka
International. |

Because of the growing success of these
ingredients, on January 1st 2000, BELDEM and FRIMOND were
merged into one company, BELDEM S.A., representing the
Food Ingredients Division of the Puratos Group together
with Gelka International. |

Today, Beldem is integrated in the new PURATOS Group organization as a part of the Strategic Business Unit Bakery and has been divided into 3 Business Units : B.U. Enzymes, B.U. Emulsifiers and B.U. Bioflavours. |
