  The history of Beldem is closely linked to the long experience of the Puratos Group in the baking sector. Beldem is a preferred supplier to the Puratos Group of many key ingredients. Puratos has been active in the baking world since 1919 and is now recognized internationally as a prominent player in dough conditioners, bread mixes and all products for bakers and confectioners.

As a separate Company of the Group, Beldem has also built strong ties with other large companies in the baking sector and sells its products worldwide. With its renowned baking laboratory and extensive breadmaking facilities, Beldem is able to supply ingredients made for the baker by specialists. Synergies between our ingredient ranges allow us to supply the bread mix manufacturer with original solutions and customized systems.

The use of emulsifiers in the baking industry is already well known. They are widely used for their beneficial effect on crumb structure, softness improvement, shelf-life enhancement properties and increased volume. Beldem offers an extensive range of its own emulsifiers and blends such as distilled monoglycerides, data-esters and SSL.

More recently , the production of baking enzymes has been considered as a strategic step towards the full integration of our baking portfolio. Based on more than 10 years intensive research, our enzyme plant is able to produce specific products to meet the baker's needs, and has developed a whole range of blends adapted to all types of breadmaking processes.

Dried sourdoughs are also a unique range of products which allow the baker to make a wide variety of bread items without the time consuming exercise of producing fresh sours. Beldem has developed its own range of active and non-active sourdoughs based on rye and wheat, kosher and organic, able to fulfill all baking requirements. Besides natural sourdoughs, Beldem laboratories have also undertaken research into very specific flavours to reproduce the typical taste profiles of bread crust, crumb, etc. These products can boost the organoleptic properties of industrially processed bakery items, giving them the very particular taste of craftsman baked bread.

As a specialist in fermentation products, Beldem has recently added Instant Active Dry Yeast and Starter Cultures to its portfolio. This enlarges the family of products with two important components of bread- fermentation products par excellence.
